• Doomwheel [2]

The Doomwheel is progressing with the interior nearly completed, so I will be able to attach the outer wheels soon. The Skaven driver has had his clothing completed, with just some small detail work on the armor to finish. Then I need to paint in a couple of lenses, and the wheels can go on.

The warpstone has been painted with Orkhide Shade for the base coat, then Goblin Green, then Scorpion Green highlights following the facet shapes on the stone, then a light highlight of Sunburst Yellow, and a final spot highlight of Skull White on the reflective edges of the warpstone.

The assisting Skaven on the back platform has been completed and attached. I've painted him in a traditional plague monk type scheme with the Catachan Green robes, and shaded Scorched Brown under garments.

I also tried using Vallejo Verdigris on the brass parts of the wheel. It's an interesting effect and looks quite good. I'm getting the hang of it now - it needs to be watered down, and applied in small layers, or you can lump it on and then gently remove it from the high panels with your finger, so it just sits in the recesses.

The outside blades are done, and are just waiting for the warpstone to be completed. I'll probably start on the banner tonight, and try to get the freehand insignia painted and finished. I've been consulting the Skaven Uniform and Insignia book for reference on the writing characters.
