• Screaming Bell [2]

I repeated the steps for the wood and metal fittings on the wheels, and the arch pieces. The stone on the arch pieces was done the same as the large stones, with the runes finished in Dwarven Brass.

The decking was glued down to the frame (although the rear deck was left loose until the Rat Ogre was completed for ease of painting).

I started work on the two characters to go on the model, and the brazier. All of the smoke blowing from the small braziers and the large one on the front deck were painted with Codex Grey, then washed with a heavy wash of green. These took quite a long time to dry, but when finished I dry brushed Fortress Grey on the end of the smoke, and Goblin Green at the very top of the smoke, where it's coming off the embers of warp stone. The warp stone in the braziers was painted in the usual fashion.

The Rat Ogre is quite straightforward to paint, and doesn't differ to much from the other standalone Rat Ogre's in the army. It took a bit of time to pick out the chain thats wrapped around his arm, and all the hair on the body. The character looks great when completed though. The Grey Seer was painted while unattached from the bell, with a few test fittings to get the hand attached to the arm correctly, so it would mate up with the handle and the top of the bell properly. I pinned the hand to the arm for extra strength. The cowl on the robes was painted with shades of grey, up to a white. To get a pure white, I used a final highlight of Ceramite White. The new base paint is an excellent way to get a strong clean white finish.

I still have some small detail work to complete, and some weathering. So far the model is looking great though. I think the Bell should be finished pretty soon, and I'll take what I learned from this project, and go back to finishing the Abomination.
