• Color Sergeant Kell [1]

I've started working on Color Sergeant Kell to go along with Lord Castellan Creed who's also sitting on the workbench. He's a pretty good Finecast sculpt, with very little faults in the resin - mostly just some very small holes on the underside of the model as usual (under the butt of the gun was one example).

The model itself is pretty straightforward to paint, as he's wearing a normal Cadian soldiers uniform with a few other accessories. I had seen him painted up with a black and red outfit which was interesting, but I think he should probably look like the rank and file with some small higher rank changes. Creed will look different enough as it is.

Where I think the figure really shines, is the large Cadian banner that he's carrying. Its going to be quite bold in the red, white, and black. To get a nice white on the flag, I started painting it in a dark grey, then gradually built up the white parts using Codex Grey, Fortress Grey, to Skull White. The red parts have been painted in Mechrite Red, then generously washed with Devlan Mud, and highlighted with Blood Red, and orange highlights. I then washed the red parts with the red wash to tie the shades together.
