• Necron Warriors [1]

Beeb's doing a Necron army at the moment, so I got him a box of Warriors to go with his Necron Lord - a nice entry point into the army. I think they're a good starter army, and they seem more competitive now too. Bee liked them because "they're not as complicated as the Blood Angels to put together and paint". I think they will appeal to a lot of the entry level 40k players out there too.

There aren't many options on the sprues, but that makes sense in the fluff that basic Necron troops aren't individuals. So it was a case of rinse, lather, repeat for each warrior: clip off, do some clean up, and assemble. They are pretty easy to put together, and don't take too long, which is good because you've got 10 of them to do. The poses are also fairly limited, although you could probably cut and repose them since they're plastic. I have seen quite a few of them broken around the GW stores though, so don't assume they're very tough models - they look skeletal, so be careful when your clipping them off the sprues.

One thing we did note, was that the body contains two hydraulic pieces by the neck, that forces the head to look up when attached. In order to repose the heads a bit I would file those down to varying heights, so the heads would sit differently when attached.

When he's got the warriors all done, we'll attach them to their bases so they can stand up while being painted. Then I bought some metallics and he can have a go with the airbrush spraying them. Hopefully that should enable him to get them finished really quickly, then onto the next unit. I think he's after a unit of Immortals next.
