I finally got a squad of Imperial Guardsmen (after my last purchase attempt failed and they never turned up! grrr! you know who you are!!). I've started assembling the Sargeant, Voxcaster, Flamer, and Grenadier (basically the more interesting troopers). I've had to start painting them with the arms removed, as a lot of them are closed poses and its impossible to paint them assembled. You could argue against not painting stuff that you can't see, but its easier to get at the bits you could see while they're not assembled. The skin is based with Talarn Flesh, then given a couple of washes of Ogryn Flesh. The Talarn is reapplied to the highlights of the skin.
The clothing is painted with Calthan Brown, then painted with Kommando Khaki, with a highlight of Bleached Bone. A wash of Devlan Mud completes the outfit.
The green armor is based with Orkhide Shade, then Catachan Green, then edged with Goblin Green. The insignia are painted on with Adeptus Battlegray, then Skull White. I also use the Battlegray on the various aquila insignia, followed by Skull White.
The weapons have been painted with the usual Boltgun Metal, Badab Black wash, then Chainmail, or Mithril Silver edging/highlights.
