Imperial Guard Heavy Weapons Team

While I'm still waiting for my Cadian troopers to arrive in the post, I purchased a Heavy Weapons Team to work on over Easter. Technically this is my first painted IG troops, since the only other IG figure I've worked on so far has been the Commissar.

I checked the Codex and went with the Fire Support platoon option, selecting the lascannon as the weapon of choice. Clipped out all the parts, cleaned up, and sprayed with Chaos Black.

The clothing was painted with Calthan Brown, then dry brushed with Kommando Khaki, then washed with Devlan Mud. Where additional highlights were required (mainly on the backpack), I then brushed Bleached Bone on.

The green of the armor was painted with Dark Angels Green, then Catachan Green, with Camo Green highlights. The insignia was painted with Adeptus Battlegray, then straight Skull White. Skin was painted with Tanned Flesh, then Dwarf Flesh was layered on, with a final Elf Flesh. Colors were then blended together with a wash of Ogryn Flesh. Mouth interior was reset to Chaos Black, with teeth in Skull White.

Eyes were painted on. Helmet lining was Adeptus Battlegray, with Fortress Gray edging. Gun metal was painted with Boltgun Metal, washed with Badab Black, and reset with Boltgun Metal, and Chainmail highlights added where necessary.

The base was finished with sand and small rocks, painted in Scorched Brown, then dry brushed with Bestial Brown, and finished with Bleached Bone highlights. Small shrubs and static grass were glued on.
