• Blood Angels Devastator Squad : Lascannon

Helping Beeb complete his Devastator squad - I think we've got a Fusion gun, Heavy Bolter, and Plasma Gun completed so far. This guy's going to be a Lascannon trooper (so I've just got the Sargeant left to go), so he clipped off the Lascannon and we've assembled that. Body with kneeling legs, shoulder pads, Backpack which we've assembled, arms, and helmeted head. All parts were sprayed with Chaos Black. Any parts that are red have been undercoated with Mechrite Red, then painted with Blood Red. When dry they were washed with Mechrite Red, and edging was applied with Blazing Orange. The scope lenses on the lascannon was painted with Regal Blue, then highlighted with Ultramarines Blue, and Ice Blue. Lense highlights were painted with Skull White. The metallic parts of the cannon, hoses etc, were painted with Boltgun Metal then washed with Badab Black. We also started prepping the base - as he's kneeling it's a plain techbase, with just metal grating on the ground. It was sprayed black, then carefully dry brushed the grating with Boltgun Metal.

Update: Edging along the black parts of the Lascannon was done with Adeptus Battlegray, then the black parts were washed with Badab to tone down the Battlegray. Little electronic lights and indicators were painted on the weapon. Highlights on the Lascannon's metallic parts were applied using Chainmail and Mithril Silver. The armor was painted in my standard red setup, and the aquila painted with Scorched Brown, then Shining Gold, and Burnished Gold highlights. Because he's a Devastator member, the helmet was painted blue. First coat of Regal Blue, then Ultramarines Blue, and edged highlights of Ice Blue. Finally I washed it with Asurmen Blue to blend the colors together. I hadn't tried this before, but it came out looking pretty good. The helmet lenses were painted in Dark Angels Green, Goblin Green, and Snot Green. Lense highlights with Skull White. Assembled the arm and gun, and attached to the torso. Attached torso to legs, adjusting to get pose right with kneeling legs. Attached to base. Have to add some more debris to the tech base to blend in the rock that the trooper is kneeling on.

Update: All parts completed and detailed. Assembled the marine. Attached the lascannon and arm to the torso, then attached torso to the legs. Bit fiddly trying to position it because of the kneeling legs: the hoses on the underside of the lascannon had to be positioned to one side of the kneeling leg. Decided to add a banner with Emperor's commandments on the side to the lascannon. Clipped and trimmed, undercoated, then applied Adeptus Battlegray, then dry brushed Fortress Grey, and dry brushed Bleached Bone, with highlight layer of Codex White. Carefully added the commandments with Chaos Black.
