• Kroot Squad

I've started painting my first member of my cadre's Kroot squad. Firstly, he was base-coated in Chaos Black, then the skin was given a coat of Dark Angels Green, with a highlight of Catachan Green, followed up a dry brush of Camo Green. His clothing was painted with Dark Flesh, and then washed with Chestnut Ink. When that's dry a highlight of Terracotta is applied, with Vermin Brown dry brushed on for highlighting. His spines were painted with Bestial Brown, then Graveyard Earth a bit further along the spine, and lastly a highlight of Kommando Khaki to the ends of the spines. Eyes were painted with Skull White. Claws were painted with Bleached Bone. The meat was painted with Scab Red for the meatiest part, followed by a wash for Red Ink, and a highlight of Blood Red. A coating of ArdCoat was applied to make the meat look bloody and glistening. The skin part of the meat was painted with Bestial Brown, then Graveyard Earth, and final highlight of Kommando Khaki. The bones were painted with Fortress Gray, and a highlight of Bleached Bone. All the metal parts, knives and rifle were painted with Boltgun Metal, then washed with Black Ink to shade. The parts were then picked out again with Boltgun Metal. Highlights are given with Chainmail, followed by a thin line of Mithril on the sharpest parts. The guns stock was painted with Dark Flesh, and given a wash of Chestnut Ink - it was left darkly colored. The cloth wrapped around the end of the gun was painted in Codex Gray, then highlighted with Fortress Gray. Various small straps were painted with Vermin Brown.
