• Tau Ethereal [1]

I've always wanted an excuse to paint a Tau Ethereal, and when Oct-tau-ber came along I'd finally found it. It's quite a nice model, but it had the usual Finecast problems. Particularly under the outstretched arm holding the glaive, the arm was hollowed with a recessed groove down the length of the arm. There was also a number of seams that needed fixing. The arm needed a lot of filling, and then a good sand to fix up all the seams.

I used the skin scheme from Aun'shi which consisted of a blue/grey basecoat, washed with purple wash, then reset to base coat, then progressively work up shades of grey.

The orange was a mix of orange and red for the base, washed with gryphonne sepia then shades up to pure orange.

The model is nearly all finished, and just requires some Tau runes to be applied to the scarf and robes.
