• Sauron [1]

Here's Sauron on a lavaflow base. I've also tried to use object source lighting techniques to reflect the fire on his armor.

I used watered down Blood Red, Oranges, and Yellows to build up the color on the armor panels. This meant using a wet palette to stop the paint from drying out, but dry brushing off excessive water from the brush so just a light application of pigment remained. It took a few passes to build up the color on the model. When it was finished and dry, I hit the light passes with a Gryphonne Sepia wash which tied the coloring and blends together. I found that it made it look a bit too yellow though, so I applied a very light wash of Baal Red.

I'm really happy with how it turned out, and I'll be trying to use more OSL on future models.
